To say that something must be accepted "warts and all" means that the bad must be taken with the good,including features or qualities that are not appealing or attractive. And warts are not appealing or attractive on anyone, anywhere, at any time. Throughout history these unsightly growths have been universally recognized as despoilers of beauty and markers of true ugliness.
Which is not to say that anyone deserves them. Warts tend to pop up unexpectedly, and anything one might do to cause them is not done with the intention of sporting gross new skin growths.The typical wart is a raised round or oval growth on the skin with a rough surface. They are caused by a virus called the human papillomavirus (HPV). More than 100 strains of this virus have been identified, and at least 60 are known to cause warts.
Warts can show up anywhere. Wherever you have skin you might get a wart. Almost all types of HPV cause relatively harmless warts that appear on your hands or feet. However, there are a few strains of HPV that cause warts on, in, and around your genitals. Remember that you can spread warts to other parts of your body, and they are contagious to others.
Different types of warts include subungual warts which appear under and around the fingernails or toenails, plantar warts that grow on the soles of the feet and the toes and periungual warts, a cauliflower-like cluster of warts that occurs around the nails. Mosaic warts are a group of tightly clustered plantar-type warts, commonly on hands or soles of the feet. Flat warts are generally found on the face and forehead. Filiform or digitate warts are thread or finger-like warts, common on the face, eyelids and lips.
Warts will sometimes go away on their own, but might take years to do so. You should see a dermatologist if you cannot get rid of the warts, the warts hurt, or you have many warts. Dermatologists have many treatments for warts. The treatment used depends on the patient’s age and health as well as the type of wart. Living without warts might just grow on you.
